Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has called on members of the Ifelodun APC Elders’ Council and other party stakeholders to prioritise unity, mutual understanding, and peace, emphasising these as crucial to sustaining the party’s success.

The Governor made the remarks during a meeting held over the weekend in Ilorin, the state capital, with the Ifelodun APC Elders’ Council led by Senator Makanjuola Ajadi.

Governor Abdulrazaq lauded the continued support of the Elders’ Council and other party platforms across the state. He urged all members to work collaboratively, stressing the importance of presenting a united front.

“I want us to strengthen and deepen the spirit of working together. A divided house will lead us nowhere,” the Governor said. “Unity is always essential. If we are divided, people will take advantage of us. So, there is a need for unity, including in Ifelodun.”

The Governor expressed optimism for the year ahead, describing it as a year of “prosperity, stability, and proper engagement.”

Governor Abdulrazaq acknowledged the concerns raised by the council regarding infrastructural needs, particularly road construction, social amenities, and political appointments. He reiterated his commitment to addressing these challenges and highlighted progress in some areas, including the completion of the new Orisa bridge that connects Irepodun to Ifelodun Local Government Area.

However, the Governor voiced dissatisfaction with the performance of some contractors handling road projects, such as the Ora township road, and assured the council that corrective measures were being taken.

Senator Ajadi, speaking on behalf of the council, praised the Governor’s administration for its visible achievements across the state.

“There is hardly anybody that will say they have not seen your work in their ward. It is not possible,” Ajadi said. “In Babanloma, where I am the Asiwaju, we have seen your works like road construction, hospital rehabilitation, and school rehabilitation, among others.”

Ajadi also presented specific requests, including the reconstruction of the Oro-Ago to Oke-Oyan road, describing its poor condition as a significant challenge for the community.

APC Chairman in Ifelodun, Lukman Abubakar, commended the administration’s efforts on the Ajase-Ipo/Igbaja road and urged the Governor to extend similar interventions to other critical routes. These include the Igbaja-Oke-Ode/Sagbe road, Panada-Agbayangi-Yaru road, and Marafa/Oke-Ode road.

The meeting underscored the administration’s focus on fostering collaboration and delivering meaningful development to the state. With the Governor’s pledges and the council’s unwavering support, the dialogue highlighted the shared commitment to improving the lives of people in Ifelodun and across Kwara State.
