Man arrested for stabbing father to death in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man in his mid-30s for allegedly stabbing to death his father, retired pilot Captain David Nwoke, at their residence in Oro Ekpo Estate, Ada George, in Obio/Akpor Local Council Area of the state.

The incident, which occurred on July 4, 2026, left residents in shock. One of them, who spoke anonymously, said neighbours had responded to a distress call from the estate’s security personnel at about 10:00 a.m. only to find the deceased lying in a pool of blood.

According to the resident, the estate management then alerted the police, who arrested the suspect and evacuated the body to a morgue.

The residents further alleged that the suspect had previously assaulted his father and became enraged after the deceased reportedly decided to sell one of his properties.

Reports alleged that “he attacked his father from upstairs and the deceased came downstairs bleeding, but the suspect followed and stabbed him repeatedly until he died.”

Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Blessing Karibo, said the suspect was in police custody as investigations continue, adding that the command was working to ensure justice.
