A 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
Following credible intelligence, a total of 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his private parts and stomach were recovered after days of excretion observation.
Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was taken into NDLEA custody upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
He underwent a body scan, which confirmed he had ingested illicit drugs and concealed more in his private parts. A total of 58 wraps of cocaine were immediately recovered from his underwear, after which he was placed under observation. During the process, he excreted 69 pellets of cocaine in seven excretions, bringing the total number of wraps recovered to 127, weighing 1.388 kilogrammes.
Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs heading to the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos on Thursday and Friday, October 9 and 10. One of the shipments, containing 1.74 kilogrammes of methamphetamine, was hidden in blocks of glass ceramics. Another contained 114 grammes and 168 grammes of pentazocine and tramadol injections, respectively, while the third carried 48 grammes of tramadol capsules concealed in a Vitamin C container.
Attempts by other syndicates to ship 2.6 kilogrammes of skunk and 422 grammes of tapentadol 250mg concealed in black soap tablets to Turkey; 169 grammes of cocaine hidden in ladies’ handbags bound for Australia; and 568 grammes of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, concealed in containers of herbs destined for the United Arab Emirates were also thwarted.
At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted 27,510 pills of Rohypnol concealed in sachets of alcoholic drinks bound for South Africa. After arresting a freight agent and a cab driver linked to the shipment, a follow-up operation at Oyingbo Market led to the arrest of the mastermind, 46-year-old Samuel Omoruyi, also known as Yellow, on October 2.
On the same day, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was arrested while attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol 225mg and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol 200mg hidden in food items to Italy. He confessed to trafficking the opioids for another person for a fee of €945.
In Edo State, a raid on the home of a suspect, 33-year-old Emmanuel Sunday, at Ugbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central Council, led to the recovery of 47 kilogrammes of skunk.
Similarly, in Osun State, two suspects, 48-year-old Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo and 52-year-old Oladejo Taiwo, were arrested at Omifufun village, Ife South Council, on Wednesday, October 8, following the seizure of 635 kilogrammes of skunk from their Toyota Hiace bus (registration number DDA65ZY). Two others, Timothy Omiwole, 41, and Isaac Achiatan, 36, were also apprehended in the same location with 100 kilogrammes of the substance and a motorcycle.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers State, 20-year-old Okoro Julius and 25-year-old Onyebuchi Nwibo were arrested in connection with 8.5 kilogrammes of skunk seized on Friday, October 10. In Katsina State, 46-year-old Sulaiman Kalalu was arrested after 29.5 kilogrammes of the same substance were found in his house at Bayan Asiti, Jibia town, on Saturday, October 11.
In Niger State, NDLEA officers arrested 29-year-old Yisa Daniel at New Bussa with 22,000 capsules of tramadol, 800 ampoules of pentazocine injection, and 150,000 pills of Exol-5.
Elsewhere, 312 kilogrammes of skunk were recovered from a bush at Ologede Camp, Ogbese, Ondo State, while operatives on patrol along the Benin-Lagos Expressway on Thursday, October 9, intercepted two suspects, 39-year-old Francis John and 46-year-old Adeyemi Taiwo, in a car conveying 141.8 kilogrammes of skunk.
In Kaduna, a suspect, 27-year-old Rufai Ahmed, also known as Farin Malam, was arrested at the Abuja-Kaduna tollgate while transporting 150,000 pills of Exol-5 from Lagos to Katsina.
