A shocking incident has occurred in Diobu, Port Harcourt, where a 65-year-old man, identified as Monday Reuben, was allegedly stabbed by his neighbour, Nnana, who is in his early 30s.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred at 37 Okwelle Street, Mile 2 Diobu, where Reuben serves as the caretaker.
The suspect, Nnana, accused Reuben of witchcraft before committing the heinous crime.
Reuben, in an interview, recounted the horrific events, saying: “I was attacked by Nnana, who claimed I was a witch. He said I didn’t know I was a witch, and that he would kill me and run away.”
Reuben explained that the incident began when he asked Nnana to move some sand.
He added, “I called him ‘oboy’ (young man) to shift the sand to one side. He took offense and accused me of witchcraft.”
The attack occurred in two phases.
“He stabbed me in the neck last night, and then again in the head this morning,” Reuben said.
Reuben, a native of Akwa Ibom State, expressed his desire for justice.
“I want the police and security agencies to arrest Nnana and ask him what I did to warrant such treatment.”
The victim has reported the incident to the Azikiwe Police Division.
It was, however, gathered that Reuben was taken to an undisclosed hospital after he was issued a medical report form by the Azikiwe Police Division.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, is yet to respond to inquiries about the incident.
