The Nigerian Navy has disowned a recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise, describing it as unauthorised and urging members of the public to disregard it.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, said the notice was not an official publication of the Nigerian Navy and should not be relied upon.

The Navy advised prospective applicants to be wary of recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources.
According to the statement, official information on recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and categories, will be communicated only through authorised Nigerian Navy channels.
It identified the official recruitment/enlistment website as www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, while the Navy’s official website is www.navy.mil.ng.

The Navy also warned the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free of charge.
It added that no third party had been authorised to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
The statement said the Nigerian Navy remained committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels.
