New Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Haastrup, receives staff of office
Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, the newly appointed Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, has officially received the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment, heralding the start of his reign.
The ceremony, held in Ilesa, was attended by prominent figures, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and leading traditional rulers such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi.
Governor Adeleke urged Oba Haastrup to utilise his global network to drive development in Ijesaland while pledging his administration’s support for progress across Osun State.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Haastrup unveiled plans to establish a vocational school to train artisans and boost local production.
He called for unity, declaring, “There is no victor, no vanquished,” and stressed zero tolerance for land grabbing under his reign.
The monarch also outlined a focus on economic growth through agriculture, agro-allied industries, and technical skill development, inspired by models in China and Ghana.
Following the presentation, the Owa Obokun Media Office announced that Oba Haastrup would proceed to seclusion for traditional rites, with a coronation ceremony planned for a later date.
