Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing food security.

Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing food security.

The Command pledged during a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Agriculture, Mrs Ruth Olusanya.

Led by the Head of the Agro Rangers Unit, Assistant Commandant of Corps Nathaniel Koshi, the NSCDC team conveyed Lagos State Commandant Adedotun Keshinro’s message, pledging to align with the Lagos State government’s initiatives to boost agricultural production and ensure food sufficiency.

Responding, Mrs Olusanya lauded the Corps’ stakeholder engagement approach, specifically the Bi-Monthly Public Relations Clinic, which proactively addresses security concerns before they escalate.

The Commissioner also expressed support for the clinic’s third edition, scheduled for October 9, 2024, ahead of World Food Day.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of World Food Day, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in achieving food security.

Under Olusanya’s leadership, the Ministry of Agriculture has launched several initiatives to enhance food production and security in Lagos State.

These include the Lagos State Five-Year Agricultural and Food Systems Roadmap, which identifies investment opportunities for private sector participants.

The Guardian understands that the NSCDC’s commitment to supporting the agriculture ministry’s efforts is a significant step towards achieving the state’s food security goals.

As Lagos continues to navigate the challenges of food pricing and production, collaborative efforts like these will be crucial in ensuring the availability of affordable, quality food for its residents.
