Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 43-year-old Edebiri Temitope, over his alleged involvement in the death of the 38-year-old university graduate, identified as Mike Oje, who was reportedly beaten to death by neighbour in Mowe.

The Guardian learnt that Oje was hugging and playing with the child of Temitope, an action which made him became upset.and accused the victim of engaging in what he considered “rough play.”

The accusation followed an alleged disagreement over his interaction with the suspect’s three-year-old child.

Spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, yesterday

Babaseyi said that upon the suspect’s reaction, neighbours reportedly picked up a bamboo stick and started to beat Oje.

He said that due to the severe beating, the victim allegedly collapsed during the assault and later died from injuries sustained.

Babaseyi said that the suspect on realising the situation, fled the area with his family following the incident and was said to be hiding in an unknown place.

He said that the police immediately launched a manhunt for him and he was subsequently arrested.

“Edebiri Temitope, ‘M’, aged 43 years, who was earlier reported to be at large, has been arrested in connection with the death of Oje Micheal Eje, ‘M’, Babaseyi said.

He added that the suspect had been transferred to the state CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation.

Oje, is a 38, was a university graduate with a degree in Guidance and Counselling.
