Okoroha donates two-story building to IMSU, Owerri

A renowned British-trained lawyer, Dr. Adolph Anyiam Okoroha, has donated an ultra-modern two-storey science building to the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri.

The building which represents one of the most significant infrastructural donations in the university’s recent history was commissioned by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

The governor, who was represented at the commissioning of the project by the Vice Chancellor, IMSU, Prof. U.U. Chukwumaeze, commended the donor’s extraordinary gesture.

He said the Science Building now stands as a beacon of academic excellence, a catalyst for research advancement, and a generational investment in the future of medical and scientific education in Imo State.

The philanthropist, who hailed from Okoroha/Ozigbu Dynasty of Ogwuaga Abba, Nwangele Council, placed great importance on education and has at different times played a similar role.

He had carried out renovations at Abba Technical College and Abba Central School, emerging as the second-highest donor in renovation efforts at the latter.

An alumnus of St. Augustine’s Grammar School, Nkwerre, where he completed his Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 1970/71, Okoroha served as both Scout Master and Dining Hall Prefect, early indications of a life inclined toward leadership and responsibility. In recognition of this enduring bond, he also built a Scout’s Den at his alma mater, strengthening the institution that helped shape him.

Okoroha, who is the founder and proprietor of Okoroha Royal Academy, Owerri, has also built and endowed a storey building now functioning as a healthcare centre.

Barr. Adolph Anyiam Okoroha is the Managing Director of Law Chambers, Graceland Solicitors, with operations in both London and Nigeria, a transnational legal practice reflecting his global reach and professional depth.

For his philanthropist efforts, Okoroha has been honoured by traditional institutions, diaspora communities, and professional bodies. Among the honours conferred upon him is the revered Ezinwanwa Eji Aga Mba Title, awarded by Umuduru Ezike Nneato Nweafor, Isiala Mbano, for his integrity and developmental strides. The Ndi Nze na Ozo UK Award celebrated his humanitarian contributions, legal excellence, and commitment to education and societal growth.

Within his ancestral community, the Ogwuaga Abba Autonomous Community Women’s Wing honoured him with the distinguished Ezidi Title, while family and community associations have repeatedly acknowledged his unwavering support for cultural preservation and communal advancement.

Speaking on his philanthropy’s efforts, Okoroha expressed the belief that development must be intentional, institutional, and intergenerational.

He said interventions in education are strategic, contributions to healthcare life-sustaining, and his engagements within traditional institutions responsibility-driven.
