Okun community to coronate Oba Abidemi as Asiwaju

The Okun Community of Zariagi, located at Kabba Junction in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, has announced plans to coronate His Royal Highness Oba Rev. Aina Charles Abraham Abidemi (JP) as the Asiwaju of the community.

The ceremony is scheduled for September 27, 2025, at 12:00 noon, according to a statement from the community leadership.

The event, set to take place at the Apostolic Church, Zariagi, Kabba Junction, will also feature the installation of the Council of Chiefs and the conferment of honorary chieftaincy titles to recognise notable sons and daughters of the community.

Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State is expected to serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West, along with other dignitaries, will attend the occasion.

In the statement, community leaders described the coronation as a significant step in reinforcing traditional leadership and promoting communal unity.

“We invite the general public to join us as we celebrate the ascension of Oba Rev. Aina Charles Abraham Abidemi as Asiwaju of Okun Community. The event will also recognise individuals who have contributed to the growth and development of our community,” the statement said.

The coronation is anticipated to strengthen cultural heritage in Zariagi, enhance local governance through the Council of Chiefs, and highlight the role of community leadership in fostering social cohesion and recognition of outstanding citizens.
