The Olota of Otta, Prof Adeyemi Obalanlege, has appealed to residents of Kajola Iboro to remain calm following overnight attacks.

He confirmed that reports of these attacks have been filed with the Nigeria Police for investigation and prosecution.

In a statement released yesterday, the Olota called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene in an escalating dispute within the community.

He accused a top government official of collaborating with those undermining his traditional authority.

The monarch reported that during his visit to Kajola Iboro on Saturday, hoodlums allegedly hired by another monarch and this government official attempted to disrupt his visit.

He asserted that this other monarch, whose authority is limited to a section of Abeokuta South Local Council, has repeatedly tried to illegitimately install a Baale (local chief) in Kajola Iboro, which falls under the Olota’s jurisdiction.

“I am calling on Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene and address this situation,” the Olota said, urging the Governor to reprimand the official.”

Oba Obalanlege affirmed his legitimate authority over Kajola Iboro and his commitment to maintaining peace despite provocations from the hired thugs.
