Suspects hypnotise victims with charms’

Luck, yesterday, ran against a six member kidnap syndicate in Ondo State, who specialises in using charms to hypnotise their victims as they were arrested by the State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun Corps.
Ondo State Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adeleye, paraded the syndicate yesterday in Akure, alongside 39 others arrested for various criminal activities ranging from armed robbery, burglary, sexual assault to cattle rustling.

According to Adeleye, the kidnap syndicates were nabbed in Odigbo Local Council of Ondo State. Adeleye, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, said the kidnap syndicate use spiritual means to hypnotise people they carry on their motorcycles to unknown destinations.

He said: “We have a case of one of them that specialises in killing motorcyclists and taking their motorcycles, dismantling and sending them out of the state.

“We tracked him to Ore in Odigbo and arrested his accomplice, while the ring leader escaped to Ogun State. We contacted the Amotekun in Ogun, who assisted us in apprehending him.

“We also have another group that specialises in kidnapping. They actually kidnapped a lady in Ore, but we were able to get the victim out alive without ransom and we were able to apprehend the suspected kidnappers.”

The Amotekun boss disclosed that the syndicate, included two females and a herbalist, who ‘fortified’ the gang before going on operation.

Other suspects paraded are four other kidnappers, eight burglars, 10 armed robbers; one minor rapist, three motorcycle snatchers.
