A road accident in the Oko Afo area of Badagry, Lagos, has claimed one life, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, said the agency’s Dolphin Response Team responded to distress calls and arrived at the scene to find a DAF truck, a Cross Country Transport Toyota Hummer bus, a Volkswagen commercial bus, and a Nissan car involved in a collision.
Initial investigations indicated that the accident was caused by the truck driver’s reckless speeding, which led to a loss of control and subsequent crash with the other vehicles.
An adult male was confirmed dead, and several injured victims were taken to local hospitals by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). LASEMA’s team implemented safety and traffic control measures and used heavy-duty equipment to clear the scene.
The three vehicles were towed to Morogbo Police Station, and the truck was relocated to a lay-by to restore traffic flow. The deceased was transported to the morgue by the FRSC.
