Osun State Police Command, on Sunday said investigation into the recent reported killings had yielded progress, saying the suspects allegedly involved in the dastardly act will be tracked down to face justice soon.

A statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abiodun Ojelabi, hinted that some identified individuals, who allegedly perpetrated the dastardly act were currently at large.

While disclosing that no effort would be spared to ensure their arrest, the statement urged members of the public with credible hints to assist the police, assuring that such information will be treated with confidentiality.

The statement reads: Thorough and discreet investigation has commenced into the recent killing incident. The investigation has yielded useful leads, while some of the suspects identified in connection with the incident are currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to track them down and bring them to justice.

‎”The Command therefore appeals to members of the public, particularly those who may have useful information regarding the killing incident, to come forward and assist the police with such information and such information will be treated with the necessary confidentiality.

Meanwhile, the statement added the Police had been notified of a planned protest by a faceless group identified through intelligence as the “Congress of Cultists,” allegedly associated with the Neo-Black Movement, also known as Black Axe.

‎It cautioned any individual or group planning to to cause chaos, disturb public peace, or engage in any form of criminality to have a rethink, maintaining that Police and other security agencies will not fold their hands and allow miscreants to use any opportunity to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and destruction of lives and properties.

According to the statement, “Police operatives will respond decisively and appropriately to any action capable of threatening the peace and security of the State.”

‎The command further advised individuals or groups with grievances or disputes to seek lawful means of resolving such issues, warning that no person or group should take the law into their hands or resort to violence, self-help, or any form of reprisal attack.

‎It also implored parents, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and responsible members of the public to prevail upon youths and other persons within their communities not to participate in any act capable of destabilising the state.
