Osun State Police Command, on Monday hinted that it has arrested 24 suspects over alleged cult related killings and thuggery, declaring that no effort will be spared in ridding the state of criminal elements.

Making this disclosure during a press briefing at the headquarters of the state Police command, in Osogbo, the Osun State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ibrahim Gotan warned hoodlums to desist from perpetrating violence and other dastardly or face full wrath of law.

According to Gotan, “the essence of this briefing is to keep the public adequately informed of the command’s sustained efforts to combat cultism, political thuggery, and other violent crimes across the State.

“The command is fully aware of the recent cult-related killings and acts of thuggery threatening the peace of the State, some of which have been given political undertones. Through intensified operations, the command has arrested several suspects linked to these crimes and remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

The list of the suspects include Kareem Saheed a.k.a Tanfeani, Oyeladun, Oyeladun Muideen a.k.a Akilapa (46yrs), Ridwan Adekola (39yrs), Mukaila Azeez a.k.a Mikki (33yrs), Sunday Friday a.k.a Akube (26yrs), Olamilekan Fatai (27yrs), Tiamiyu Ismail (26yrs), Famuyiwa Adekunle Toib (30yrs), Ajiboye Toheed (28yrs), Morufu Sadiq (24yrs) and Folorunsho Moshood (31yrs).

Others include Hassan Sodiq (32yrs), Badiru Saheed (26yrs), Adegoke Olalekan (27yrs), Faruk Olawale (25yrs), Iyanuoluwa Sarumi (30yrs), Afolabi Ahmed (30yrs), Adeshina Lukman (39yrs), Mutiu Opeyemi (32yrs), Olushola Daniel (32yrs), Abiola Olabode (39yrs), Azeez Abiodun (32yrs), Babatunde Kehinde (23yrs) and Dada Mayowa (31yrs).

Items recovered from the suspects include locally made rifle, sword, cutlass, charms, knife and expended cartridges.

Gotan, however, restated the Police commitment to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the forthcoming elections.

He stated: “I am using this avenue to warn all criminally minded individuals, including cultists, political thugs, and other troublemakers, to desist from activities capable of disrupting public peace and order or face the full wrath of the law.”
