Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Taraba State Police Command said preliminary investigations indicate that the victims may have unknowingly eaten meat contaminated with a toxic substance believed to have been used for rodent control.
In a statement issued by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, the Command disclosed that officers were swiftly deployed to the community upon receipt of the report.
The affected individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were evacuated for necessary procedures.
