The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA)

A 33,000-litre petrol tanker has overturned at Cele, near Petrocam, along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos, blocking the entire carriageway inward Iyana-Isolo.

The incident, which reportedly occurred at about 4:47 p.m., was blamed on suspected brake failure.

The tanker driver, who was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle following the accident, managed to escape.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has activated its rescue and recovery teams to respond to the incident, alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency responders.

The tanker’s position has obstructed traffic movement along the affected section of the expressway, prompting authorities to advise motorists to take alternative routes to avoid further congestion.

Motorists travelling from Cele, Odi-Olowo and Apapa towards Iyana-Isolo have been advised to divert through Cele Bridge to Ago Palace Way before connecting to Iyana-Isolo to continue their journeys.
