A shocking case of domestic violence has unfolded in Adamawa State, where a 20-year-old woman, Jamila Ishiaku, was arrested for allegedly pouring hot water on her pregnant sister-in-law while she was in labour.

The incident occurred in Dubeli, Yola North Local Government Area, following a heated argument between the suspect and the victim.
Ishiaku, who admitted to the act, claimed she acted out of anger.

“I didn’t think it would go this far. I was just angry,” she said in an interview.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Nguroje, assured that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law.

He urged residents to always report disputes to law enforcement rather than resorting to violence.
“If you see something, say something, and the police will always do something,” Nguroje stated.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family is demanding justice. Her sister, Nefisat Dahiru, called on the government and security agencies to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted.

The victim’s husband, Gambo Dahiru, expressed deep distress over the attack, revealing that his wife remains in severe pain.
“I have been crying for days now. My wife is in pain and has been crying uncontrollably. I am seeking justice for her. The law should take its rightful course,” he pleaded.

The police have assured that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged accordingly.
