The Abia State Police Command has arrested four suspected drug peddlers and recovered quantities of suspected hard drugs and freshly harvested cannabis during an operation in Osisioma Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, disclosed in a statement that the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible intelligence on the cultivation and sale of illicit drugs in the area.
The suspects were identified as David Chika Nwakamma, 50, from Amapuife in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State; Stanley Moses, also known as “Rati Boy”, 33, from Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State; Ibe Chisom, 29, from Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State; and Austin GodsWill, 27, also from Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The police said all four reside in Osisioma, Abia State.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out on July 16, 2026, during which officers recovered quantities of substances suspected to be hard drugs packaged for distribution, as well as freshly harvested cannabis and other suspected cannabis products prepared for sale.
“The suspects were arrested based on credible and actionable intelligence regarding the cultivation and sale of illicit drugs in Osisioma. Investigations are ongoing,” the statement said.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime and ensuring that criminals have no safe haven in Abia State.
It also urged residents to support security agencies by reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines.
