The Abia State Police Command has strengthened its partnership with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), with both agencies pledging closer cooperation in information sharing, capacity building and security operations across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, made the commitment on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Abia State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The visit was aimed at deepening inter-agency collaboration between the two security institutions and securing the participation of the Correctional Service in the Police Command’s forthcoming capacity-building training programme.

Afolabi stressed the importance of synergy among security agencies, noting that effective collaboration and timely information sharing were critical to maintaining sustainable peace and security in Abia State.

Receiving the Police Commissioner, the Controller of Corrections, Abia State Command, Blessing Ifeoma Nwanyanwu, alongside other senior officers, welcomed the initiative and expressed the Correctional Service’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the Police.

Nwanyanwu particularly assured the Police Command of the Correctional Service’s commitment to enhanced information sharing and confirmed the agency’s participation in the planned training programme.

She also commended Afolabi for the visit and appealed for the continuation of the support and cooperation the Police Command had extended to the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The two agencies reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the existing partnership and exploring further areas of cooperation to enhance security and effective service delivery in the state.
