Security operatives in Kaduna State have arrested 10 armed robbery suspects and four illegal gun fabricators, as well as impounded locally made guns, ammunition and vehicles.
Spokesperson for Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, stated, yesterday, that on July 8, about 10.30am, a ‘Good Samaritan’ reported to the police that on June 30, 2025, around 2.00pm, his brother, Ismail Bello, 40, was conveying a passenger on his commercial motorcycle from Sabon Tasha to Unguwan Gwari in Kaduna.
The Guardian was told that upon reaching the area around L.E.A. Primary School, Unguwan Gwari, the passenger asked the rider to stop. However, sensing danger, the rider refused, prompting the assailant to bring out a knife and stabbed him in the head. Both men fell to the ground, after which the suspect stabbed the victim twice in the stomach and made away with the motorcycle.
According to Hassan, “Following the report, the Surveillance Team of Kawo Division immediately swung into action and conducted a thorough investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect, who was identified as Nura Auwal.
“The stolen motorcycle was also successfully recovered and treated as an exhibit; the suspect is in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.”
He pointed out that on June 19, 2025, about 17.30pm, operatives of the command apprehended the following suspects at Kano Road in Kaduna: Sanusi Bala, ‘m’, of Zamfara State and Nura Bala, ‘m’, of Zaria, Kaduna State.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended while attempting to rob a victim of his tricycle.
“Investigations led to the recovery of three other vehicles from the syndicate. The recovered vehicles include: Golf III Wagon, dark blue in colour, with registration number ABC-152-AL, Golf III Wagon, green in colour, with registration number ABJ-900-RE and an unregistered Golf III Wagon, dark blue in colour.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices, including the identified receiver of the stolen tricycles,” Hassan stressed.
