Police nab two suspected members of vehicle snatching gang
The police in Lagos State have arrested one Kosoko Rafiu and his partner-in-crime, Nunayo Sunayo, for car theft.
The suspects were arrested on August 6 at about 12:00 p.m.
The Guardian learnt that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Tradefair Division, while on special duty during the ongoing protest, received information that a red Toyota Corona vehicle was coming at a high speed and in a suspicious manner towards the direction where he and his men were patrolling.
The DPO immediately alerted his personnel to carry out a stop-and-search. Immediately the suspects got to the place, they zoomed off.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, the suspects were given a hot chase. The police eventually flagged them down along Abule Ado, where the suspects were arrested with the stolen vehicle in their possession.
They were taken to the station and an investigation revealed that they were from the Republic of Benin and specialise in stealing cars.
One Toyota Corolla car with registration number JJJ 741 EJ and various charms were recovered from them.
