Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have neutralised several suspected bandits and recovered no fewer than 30 firearms during coordinated operations across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this at a press briefing in Kaduna yesterday, outlining successes recorded over the past two weeks.

He said the operations formed part of sustained intelligence-led offensives targeting bandits’ camps and criminal hideouts in Kajuru, Tafa, Igabi and Kauru Local Councils.

According to him, several camps were dislodged during gun battles between operatives and the suspects, leading to the neutralisation of some, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

Muhammad said a number of suspected notorious bandits were arrested, alongside five suspected gunrunners, and a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. Items recovered, he said, included three AK-47 rifles, 21 fabricated firearms, one
sub-machine gun, two pistols and four locally fabricated pistols.

He added that a large quantity of hard drugs suspected to have been supplied to criminal elements was also seized during the raids.

In a related development, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested one Adamu Aminu of Jaji Town in Igabi Local Council on February 20 at about 9:00pm.
