The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of Julius Okpor, a 300-level student of Ignatius Ajuru University, who was allegedly killed in a suspected cult-related attack in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the incident occurred on Saturday, July 20, at about 11:30 a.m. along Cecilia Road.

Okpor was reportedly shot by suspected members of a rival cult group. Police officers who responded to a distress call at the scene rushed him to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.

Iringe-Koko said preliminary findings point to cult rivalry as the likely motive behind the attack.
