Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Tactical Team Isheri, have arrested four suspected car thieves, including 31-year-old Salisu Ibrahim Abdullahi, during raids on their hideouts.
The police also recovered a stolen Toyota Hiace bus in the operation.
According to the Command, the arrest followed a report received on August 1, 2025, over a car theft involving Abdullahi, identified as the principal suspect. Acting on the report, detectives deployed to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was apprehended.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three alleged accomplices in Kano State: 45-year-old mechanic, Yenusa Salihu; 49-year-old car dealer, Baba Jero Idris; and 41-year-old businessman, Abdullahi Aliyu. The stolen grey Toyota Hiace bus was also recovered in Kano.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for the operation, describing it as a decisive move that dismantled a car theft syndicate. He assured residents and visitors of the state that the Command would continue to deploy cutting-edge policing strategies to curb vehicle theft and bring criminals to justice.
Meanwhile, one Hammed Abdulkareem was arrested yesterday morning for allegedly vandalising and stealing fence wire mesh from Peace Park, Ojota, at about 5:00 a.m. He was apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), and taken to the agency’s office for processing and prosecution.
