The police in Ogun State have recovered a silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 and returned it to its rightful owner after verifying relevant documents. The vehicle, which was reported stolen and later abandoned, was recovered on January 17, 2026, at the Somorin area of Obantoko by the Obantoko Division Surveillance Team during a routine patrol.
The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that following the recovery, information was circulated to the public to help identify the owner. He said the owner later came forward with documents proving ownership, after which the vehicle was formally handed over to her by the Divisional Police Officer of Obantoko Division.
“The vehicle, previously suspected to have been stolen and abandoned, was recovered on January 17, 2026, at the Somorin area of Obantoko by the Obantoko Division Surveillance Team during a routine patrol. It was secured at the station while information was disseminated to identify the owner,” he said.
He added that after due verification, the vehicle, alongside its keys and documents, was released to the confirmed owner.
