CP Lanre Ogunlowo

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Folashade Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Hakeem Odumosu, who was abducted last Thursday at the entrance of her residence in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The operation, led by Ogun State Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo, resulted in the neutralisation of the kidnappers and the recovery of a ransom used as bait, according to Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi.

While details of the exact location and the ransom amount remain undisclosed, Adejobi confirmed the rescue on Thursday, adding that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the efforts of the CP and the operatives.

The abduction occurred when the kidnappers dragged Mrs Odumosu from her Lexus SUV and took her through a swampy area to an unknown location.

Kidnapped Pastors Freed in Kogi
Three pastors abducted at gunpoint in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area, Kogi State, have been released two days after their kidnapping.

The pastors, led by Evangelist Gabriel Onaji, were taken on Monday night shortly after a crusade. Their release on Wednesday night was reportedly secured without the payment of the N20 million ransom initially demanded.

A church member, Gabriel Idoko, confirmed the pastors’ safe return to their families, attributing their freedom to fervent prayers led by Evangelist Sunday Oguche, President of God’s Care Missions, Okpo.

The Kogi State Police Command spokesperson, Williams Aya, stated he was unaware of the incident but promised to gather more details.

These incidents highlight ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria, particularly the rise in kidnappings for ransom in the Kogi East Senatorial Zone.
