Police uncover suspected human flesh, abandoned car in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has reiterated the importance of its stop-and-search operations across highways, intersections, and connecting roads following significant discoveries during recent patrols.

In a statement yesterday, the command disclosed that a Federal Highway Patrol team intercepted a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG around the Toll Gate axis of the Ibadan expressway at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. One occupant of the vehicle, identified as Alfa Basiru, was found with suspected human flesh, which he claimed to have purchased in Lagos.

According to the command, the suspect has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, for further interrogation. The seized item is undergoing forensic analysis to ascertain its authenticity and source.

In a separate operation, police operatives stopped a Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX during a routine search, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The car has been taken into custody, with the command urging anyone with legitimate ownership claims to present verifiable documents and contact the police at +234 808 176 8614.

The command stressed that such operations were not exaggerated measures but deliberate actions to safeguard residents and travellers in Oyo State. It further appealed for continued public cooperation, assuring that efforts would be sustained to combat crime and maintain law and order.
