Some residents of Sii Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have dismissed reports that six community leaders were arrested over alleged intimidation and ritual-related activities in the area.
A report alleged that Chief Benedict Naalor Deezim, Mr Nuadum Dorka Etukere, Mr Samuel Neekia Deewii, Mr Cletus Nuadum Kanee, and Dr Lekia Nwiko were arrested in connection with the above allegations.
In a letter signed by King Gabriel, the community leaders stated that the individuals mentioned in the publication were only invited by operatives of the C4i Police Unit in Borokiri, Port Harcourt.
The document explained that the police officers served an invitation letter on Chief Benedict Deezim, directing him to appear with the other named persons on May 22, 2026. It added that although Mr Samuel Deewii was arrested at his residence, he was released on bail the same day.
The letter maintained that none of the other individuals was arrested or detained.
The report explained that Mr Deewii was neither charged to court nor remanded in custody, as police investigation is still ongoing on the matter.
The letter also dismissed allegations of intimidation, planting of charms and causing mysterious illnesses in the community, arguing that such claims remain unsubstantiated and are still under police investigation.
