Security operatives raid hideouts in Kaduna, arrest 27, recover weapons, drugs

Following the assassination of a military officer in Kaduna, security operatives under the directive of the State Police Command raided criminal hideouts in the Kawo area, arresting 27 suspected criminals and recovering dangerous weapons and hard drugs.

Confirming the operation, the spokesperson for the command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said in a statement yesterday that the raid was carried out in line with the Commissioner of Police’s directive to identify, flush out, and dismantle criminal elements threatening peace in targeted areas.

He noted that the command, in collaboration with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes, conducted a series of coordinated raids in Kawo and its environs, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of weapons.

Hassan disclosed: “On June 8, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., a joint tactical operation was launched in the nooks and crannies of Kawo and neighbouring areas. This operation led to the arrest of 27 suspects, and a significant cache of dangerous weapons was recovered from them.”

The items recovered during the operation include knives, axes, cutlasses, and large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, alongside other hard drugs.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across Kaduna State.stressing that the state remains peaceful and that security agencies will not tolerate actions by criminal elements aimed at disrupting public order.

Muhammad also warned individuals planning to incite violence or disturb the peace to desist or leave the state, emphasising that the police would continue to clamp down on miscreants to ensure the safety and stability of Kaduna.
