A medical doctor and Founder of Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos, Dr. Raphael Olanrewaju, has stressed the need for government at all levels to pay more attention to the general wellness of children of school age.
He said the insecurity plaguing the country currently has its health consequences on children as well.Olanrewaju stated this during a programme organised by Christ College (The Royal Acres), Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the college, Pastor Samuel Olatunji, said: “The task of bringing up children is beyond a show. It is an effort that demands concerted cooperation from parents, teachers, the school and immediate environment.
He said: “I started as a teacher since 1975 and I still remain a teacher till date. I ensure children are given the best to make them the best in life and God has been faithful. Parenting is not an easy task and our neighbours around and within contributes to the success of this our primary duty as teachers.”
Olanrewaju noted further that the consequences of insecurity currently plaguing our country may likely have effects on the psyque of children and there is need for government to urgently begin to attend to this area of the children welfare.
“To be in good state of health is more than been physically well, it involves mental and emotional stability. And this has lots to do for our children.”
Speaking on the theme for the year: “A season of gratitude, songs of joy”, Pastor Leke Johnson, urged the children to imbibe the culture of gratitude to God on daily basis.
Drawing from personal experience, the clergyman enumerated several miracles that God has accomplished in his life through songs of praise, when all things proved impossible.
Also present at this year carol service were parents and teachers, invited police officers and other para-military personnel.
