Sule backs NSUBEB to discipline erring teachers in Nasarawa

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has ordered the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board to deal decisively with any teacher who abscond and engage in truancy during work hours.

Commending the new NSUBEB Chairman, Kassim Mohammed, Governor Sule noted that Kassim is currently embarking on reforms to resourcitate primary school education system in the state in line with his administration’s education transformation agenda.

The Senior Special Assistant to governor Sule on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, made this know on Thursday at a press briefing in Lafia.

Sule assured Kassim of every support to deal decisively with any staff and teacher who forfeit his or her duty post should be relief of his or her job

“It is no longer business as usual for teachers including headmasters who are fond of absconding their duty. The young and vibrant new NSUBEB boss is initiating reforms that will better the education system in line with transformation agenda.

“The NSUBEB has been mandated to recruit 4700 teachers to fill vacant position in the state. Any teacher who is not ready to work should resign his or her appointment or be booted out if found wanting”, Sule said.

“The board is embarking on massive construction and renovation of primary schools across the 13 local government in the 147 electoral wards in the state under the approval of governor Sule and several Co tracts have been awarded in that regard.”

In another development, the governor thanked residents for their support during the visit of President Bola Tinubu to commission his legacy projects.

Sule assured people in the state that more construction of roads are under way before his exit in 2027. He disclosed that the Arikya Nasarawa Eggon road will soon be flagged off to create access road to farmers in the area.

He also hinted on the flag off of the distribution of fertiliser with each local government out of the 13 local governments to be given100 bags, and each electoral wards to enjoy 500 bags.

Sule disclosed that his objective is to boost surplus food production all over the state as part of his food security strategy in line with President Tinubu’s renew hope agenda.
