
The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) yesterday mourned the passing of former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja and lauded his dedication and contributions to the Nigerian Army and the nation.
The group described Lagbaja, who served as Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his passing on November 5, 2024, as a leader of distinction who left an indelible mark on the military. According to PSNAFSA, Lagbaja’s leadership exemplified commitment and integrity, leaving a legacy “forever etched in our hearts and minds.”
Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the convener of PSNAFSA, praised Lagbaja’s illustrious career, noting his dedication to soldiers’ welfare and strategic achievements in the fight against insurgency. “Throughout his career, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja held significant roles across various military units, showcasing exceptional leadership and professional development,” she stated. “His tenure witnessed major strides against insurgents and enemies of the state, underscoring his vision and leadership prowess.”
Abayomi-Fatile added that the Nigerian Army and the nation have lost a “quintessential leader” and “true patriot.”whose selfless service and commitment will continue to inspire future generations.
As the group mourned Lagbaja’s passing, it found comfort in his accomplishments, which positively affected countless lives during his short time in office.
PSNAFSA offered condolences to his family, praying for strength to endure the loss.
