The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, in connection with the gruesome murder of Mr Kola Adun, a resident of River Valley Estate in Ojodu Berger, whose decomposing body was discovered in his home.
The arrest followed a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer of Ojodu Abiodun Division from the Mubarak area in Akute on July 7, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., reporting a foul odour emanating from a residence.
Responding swiftly, officers proceeded to Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate, where they forced entry into the premises and found Mr Adun’s lifeless body on the first floor. The corpse, already in a state of decomposition, bore visible stab wounds. Bloodstains were discovered at the scene, and his Toyota Camry with registration number Lagos AAA 193 GC was missing.
Suspicion arose on the morning of Sunday, July 6, when a friend of the deceased went to pick him up for church service and noticed the gate was locked from the outside. Repeated calls to Mr Adun went unanswered before his phone was eventually switched off. The friend then alerted the family and reported the matter at the Ojodu Abiodun Police Station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, a 25-year-old former driver of the victim, unlawfully entered the residence on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the intention to rob. He allegedly stabbed Mr Adun to death and fled the scene with the deceased’s vehicle.
A breakthrough came when the suspect attempted to sell the stolen car to a dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu. The dealer, sensing foul play, alerted the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest at the point of sale.
The remains of the deceased have been evacuated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for autopsy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for discreet investigation and prosecution.
