Taraba police arrest suspected kidnapper of 100-year-old man

The Taraba State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected kidnapper in connection with the abduction of a 100-year-old man in Sabon Pegi, Ibi Local Government Area.

This was disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP James Lashen Saminu.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m. when three unidentified armed men invaded the residence of one Joshua Magani Ubandoma and abducted him at gunpoint.

The matter, as stated by the police, was reported to the police by Hillary Habila Ubandoma. Responding swiftly, operatives from the Ibi Division, in collaboration with local youths, visited the scene and followed motorcycle tyre tracks into the nearby forest.
“After days of intensive search and intelligence gathering, the operatives apprehended one Kingsley Alose, 37, a resident of Sabon Pegi, on September 2, 2025,” the statement read.

The police noted that the case remains under active investigation, with efforts underway to track down the remaining suspects and secure the safe release of the victim.

Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, praised the Ibi Division for their swift response and determination. She reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of all residents in the state.
“The Taraba State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime and create a secure environment for all,” the statement said.
