The Ron-Murwi Development Association (ROMDA) said it is deeply saddened and alarmed by the brutal attack on Pyakmalu village in Tangur by Fulani herdsmen at the weekend, resulting in the gruesome killing of three innocent people.

The victims, according to ROMDA, were members of a family of a late reverend and were macheted to death while relaxing after their daily activities on Friday.

This was disclosed in a statement shared to journalists by ROMDA Director of Public Affairs, Abel Luka Mapur.
Calling the attack a senseless act of violence, the group said it is a reminder of the escalating insecurity and brutality faced by the people of the communities.

ROMDA strongly condemns this heinous attack and demands that the authorities take immediate action to investigate this incident thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The government should provide adequate protection and security to the people of Pyakmalu village and surrounding communities and address the root causes of these attacks, including the indiscriminate grazing of cows by herdsmen on people’s lands which often leads to conflict and violence when locals resist trespassing,” ROMDA said.

ROMDA called on the government to take concrete steps to establish clear policies and laws regulating cattle grazing and preventing encroachment on private lands and also ensure that herdsmen respect the rights of landowners and communities.
