Three persons died on the spot on Wednesday evening after an articulated truck loaded with turkeys collided with a motorcycle along the Papalanto axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement yesterday.

He said that the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. near Ilaro and involved a motorcycle carrying three persons and an articulated truck.

According to him, the motorcycle rider, who was conveying two passengers from Ilaro to Papalanto, attempted to overtake a vehicle towing another vehicle after passing the truck loaded with turkeys. In the process, the motorcycle was struck by the truck and crushed against the towing vehicles.

He said the rider and the two passengers sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
