A truck conveying federal government grains, alongside 36 passengers, all male, heading to Kano from Lagos, was involved in a road accident at Essa community along Agaie-Badegi road of Katcha Local Council of Niger State.
The Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Arah, who revealed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Minna, stated that the accident occurred on Sunday, 18th May 2025, at 3 a.m., attributing the accident to the bad road.
Arah explained that the accident had claimed the lives of seven (7) persons, while eleven (11) people sustained a high degree of injuries, adding that five (5) people sustained minor injuries.
The D.G. NSEMA further stated that the injured persons were taken to Badegi and Agaie health centres for medical attention, while others were taken away by their colleagues.
Abdullahi Baba Arah also disclosed that all the dead persons were taken away by their relatives, pointing out that his agency, in collaboration with commuters as well as some villages near the scene of the accident, had conducted search and rescue operations.
