Two on trial for petrol theft
The Police on Friday arraigned two men —Oyewole Gboyega, 46, and Adeyemi Rotimi, 34 —at an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing.
The defendants, who were of undisclosed addresses, was charged on two counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing, which they pleaded not guilty to.
The prosecuting counsel, Cpl. David Adepoju, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired together to steal the petrol.

Adepoju said the defendants allegedly stole 23,650 litres of Premium Motor Spirit(PMS), otherwise known as petrol, from their employers, Gastab Haulage Limited.
He said the offense was allegedly committed between 2018 to 2024 at Kilometre 18, Ibadan/ Lagos Expressway, Ojoo area in Ibadan, property of Gastab Haulage Ltd.
Adepoju said the offense contravened Section 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Defense Counsel, Mr. Wasiu Raheem, asked for defendants’ bail in the most liberal term.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N5 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a landed property owner with survey, while the second surety must be a blood relations to the defendants.
She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till April 8 for hearing.
