Unknown gunmen kill MACBAN chair in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the brutal killing of Alhaji Idris Abubakar, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state.

Though no reason has been offered for his killing, the police image maker, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated yesterday that the deceased was shot dead on Saturday at the entrance of his residence in Oke Ose, Oke-Oyi.

According to the PPRO, police detectives responded swiftly, only to recover five expended 7.62mm shells. “His remains have been deposited at UITH Mortuary,” she said.

She hinted that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has commenced a full investigation.

She stated that CP Victor Olaiya assures that the perpetrators will be brought to justice, urging the public to remain calm and provide useful information.

Meanwhile, a family source disclosed that Abubakar was killed at about 10:00 p.m. and was survived by two wives and six children.

According to the source, a funeral prayer was held for him yesterday (Sunday) at Zango, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Miyetti Allah State Secretary, Hon. AbdulAzeez Muhammed, prayed to God to repose the soul of the deceased.
