Yobe police arrest woman for trafficking 350 rounds of ammunition
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old resident of Morami Village in Jakana, Konduga Local Council, Borno State, Hamsatu Modu, for allegedly trafficking 350 rounds of ammunition.
Public Relations Officer Dungus Abdulkarim said the suspect was apprehended by police operatives from the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Damaturu, the state capital.
In a statement, the police command revealed that it received credible intelligence about a suspected gunrunner heading to Damaturu, prompting swift action.
A Golf 3 saloon car was intercepted, and a thorough search uncovered 350 rounds of live 7.62×39mm ammunition hidden in the suspect’s luggage.
“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation as investigators work to uncover the criminal network and the motives behind the trafficking.
Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating crime and urged community members to continue cooperating with security agencies,” the statement said.
