Yuletide: Oyo NSCDC deploys 2,550 officers
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has deployed 2,550 officers across the state to ensure the safety and security of lives and property during the 2024 Yuletide season.
Spokesperson of the Oyo State Command, Samuel Opebiyi, in a statement, said the deployment, directed by the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, is effective from Friday, December 20, 2024, to January 8, 2025, is aimed at maintaining peace and order during the festive period.
Opebiyi quoted the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, as saying that the focus of the deployment will be on identified hotspots for criminal activities, areas with high population density, major transportation hubs, commercial centers, markets, religious centers, places of worship, residential areas, recreational centers, parks, and educational institutions
He emphasised that NSCDC aims to ensure public safety, prevent criminal activities, and maintain peace and order throughout the festive period.
”All Area Commands and Divisions have been directed to deploy their personnel strategically around critical national assets and infrastructure, road intersections, motor parks, amusement centers, religious houses, and other public places.”
The PRO said the command had established clear operational guidelines for the deployed personnel, including rules of engagement and a code of conduct.
While soliciting the support of all and sundry, the security chief said: “As the festive season begins, the NSCDC Oyo State Command wishes all residents of the state a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance. Together, let us ensure a peaceful and joyful celebration.”
