Zamfara governor commissions Edo health facility, praises Obaseki

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has lauded Governor Godwin Obaseki’s dedication to transforming Edo State’s health sector, calling the Edo leader’s vision “a shining example” of what can be achieved through resilience and dedication.
Lawal made his remarks as the guest of honour at the commissioning, matriculation, and 60th anniversary of the Edo College of Health Sciences and Technology (EdoCOHEST), held in Benin City on Wednesday.

According to a statement from Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, both leaders inspected the state-of-the-art facilities at EdoCOHEST. The institution’s expansion under Obaseki’s leadership is part of a broader initiative to strengthen healthcare education and services in Edo State.
During the event, Governor Lawal proposed a student exchange programme between Edo and Zamfara, allowing students from health institutions in Zamfara to attend EdoCOHEST for a semester.
“It is an honour to be here at the invitation of my brother, Governor Obaseki, and the people of Edo State to celebrate this remarkable milestone,” Lawal said. “This project is a testament to the transformative power of vision and determination under the capable leadership of Governor Obaseki, who has rekindled hope that excellence is attainable despite challenges.”

Study diligently, excel, and safeguard the investment made here for future generations,” he advised.
He added that he hopes EdoCOHEST will not only produce health professionals but also create jobs, foster economic growth, and serve as a bridge connecting communities within and beyond Edo State.
In response, Governor Obaseki expressed his gratitude to Lawal for joining the tri-faceted event.
“I am grateful, my brother, Governor Lawal, for honouring the invitation of the good people of Edo State to mark this occasion, celebrating the commissioning, matriculation, and 60th anniversary of EdoCOHEST,” Obaseki said.
