Operatives of Oyo State Security Network Agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Vigilance Group of Nigeria (VGN), have arrested six suspected bandits at Kajola Local Council of the state.

Operatives of Oyo State Security Network Agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, in collaboration with Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Vigilance Group of Nigeria (VGN), have arrested six suspected bandits at Kajola Local Council of the state.

The suspects were arrested during a joint patrol routine along two separate routes within the council, as they mounted two illegal roadblocks in separate incidents.

In a statement, yesterday, by the Commandant of the Amotekun in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), the suspects tried to escape from the scene but were “given a hot chase by the operatives as they tried to evade arrest.

“We are still on the trail of others who managed to escape from the scene.”He said that the bandits, whose modus operandi is to pretend as herdsmen in the day and violently rob innocent passengers on the highways at night, were caught with 183 cows, weapons and N268,470.00.

The commandant said the suspects had been handed over to the police at Okeho Divisional Headquarters alongside the cows, weapons and money found in their possession for further investigation.

He, therefore, urged those with necessary information that could help the law enforcement agencies in their investigation to co-operate and report to the nearest police authority.

Meanwhile, the police could not confirm the report as calls and text messages to Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were not responded to.
