Delta commends Army for apprehending soldiers threatening peace
Delta State government has commended the Nigerian Army for arresting two soldiers in an online video threatening the people of Warri that went viral.
The state government insisted that no soldier was killed in Warri or any other part of the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the military was a special force known for its discipline and wondered where the errant soldiers got their training and orientation.
Aniagwu, in a statement, said government was concerned about where the soldiers involved got their information that warranted their uncouth and uncivilized language in threatening the people of Warri in a video that had gone viral.
Meanwhile, the state All Progressives Congress, (APC) has accused the state government of taking sides with soldiers, saying the primary purpose of government is to provide and protect citizens from external aggressors and those who do not mean well for citizens’ welfare.
The party, in a statement, by the Publicity Secretary, Sylvester Imonina, said: “The government tried to cast doubt on the viral video, to the effect that the video was concocted to create confusion and defame the Nigerian Army.”
