President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has expressed sadness over the death of Ossy Prestige of the House of Representatives, saying his death came as a rude shock.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the deceased’s special adviser on media, Ola Awoniyi, the Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency representative has been in the House since 2015.

Lawan said all his colleagues in the National Assembly would sorely miss the departed lawmaker.
ALSO, Minority Leader of the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has expressed sorrow and deep shock over the tragic incident.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by his Media Adviser, Uchenna Awom, the minority leader declared the death is a personal loss to him, describing the deceased as “a bosom friend, brother and ally.”

Abaribe who represents Abia South in the Senate lamented that the zone had lost a major stakeholder, a political leader of repute and one personality beholden to all irrespective of political affiliation.
MEANWHILE, the House of Representatives, which reconvened yesterday after the yuletide recess, has adjourned proceedings as a mark of respect for their colleague, who passed on in the early hours of Sunday, February 7, 2021.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) lawmaker passed on in a medical facility in Germany.

Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, who presided over plenary, said the deceased would be remembered as a stabilising factor in the House.

He said: “It is with a heavy heart that I announced the death of one of our members, Ossy Prestige. As many of you are aware, he has been sick for a while and went to London for treatment last summer.”
