Obaseki commends Buhari on Aghughu’s appointment as auditor-general

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing an indigene of the state, Adolphus Aghughu as new Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF).

Obaseki gave the commendation at a thanksgiving mass to mark the appointment of Aghughu’s appointment at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ewatto in Esan South East Council of the state.

Other dignitaries at the thanksgiving service were representative of Edo South in the Senate, Matthew Urhoghide, his Edo Central counterpart, Clifford Ordia and Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, among others.

He commended the President for considering merit above everything else, adding that he (Aghughu) possessed certain values that earned him the job like honesty, hard work and diligence and enjoined him to continue to maintain those values.

The governor added that his administration would fulfill all the promises made during the electioneering campaign, noting: “For my administration, I can always assure you that we do not say what we cannot do. Whatever promises we made, by the grace of God, we will fulfill them before we leave office.”

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese, Reverend Donatus Ogun, said: “We thank Governor Obaseki for the construction work on the Ewatto Road in Esan South East. We may have voted for different political parties during the gubernatorial election, but let us work together for the success of our state.

“As for the security challenges we are experiencing currently in Edo and the entire country, we should not get tired of praying for our people and government. Whenever we pray for those in government, we give them an obligation to do better.” On his part, Aghughu pledged to be transparent and accountable to Nigerians in the discharge of his duties as Auditor-General.
