Rotary International, District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun states has installed its 40th District Governor, Bola Oyebade.
Oyebade, at the investiture and fund-raising event, said the major project of his service year was the war against prostrate cancer.
The project entails screening of 2,000 men and building a prostate cancer centre at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
“Our initial target was to screen 1,000 men this Rotary year but having already screened 60 per cent of that figure within five months of this administration, we decided to increase the number to 2,000,” he said.
Oyebade added that a soft revolving loan of N50, 000 each would be given to 100 petty traders under the Micro Credit Scheme of the district, with 60 traders already benefitted from the scheme.
He said the interest-free loan is expected to be paid back within five months to enable other traders to benefit.
The immediate past District Governor, Dr. Jide Akeredolu, thanked Rotarians for their support during his tenure and urged them to give more support to his successor.
