The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lamented the rising insecurity, political uncertainties, failing economy, hardship and prevailing tension across the country. It, therefore, alerted that the nation was collapsing under the President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

It also recalled that only recently, the United Nations (UN) declared that 43 per cent of Nigeria’s Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) had taken flight to other countries, while unemployment had gone out of proportion and there was no hope in sight.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiya shortly after its meeting, the party said: “Our worry is that the prevailing situation of hopelessness under President Buhari and the APC is threatening our national cohesion and corporate existence as a nation,” it said.

The PDP called on all Nigerians of good faith and the international community to come to its rescue by speaking out against the prevailing situation in Nigeria before it gets too late.

“Our party has also noticed that since the defence of APC and President Buhari collapsed at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, the government has taken to harassment and repression of Nigerians by suspending constitutional provisions of freedom of speech and association,” the statement added.

Besides, its Kebbi State chapter has suspended chairmen of five councils and nine others for anti-party activities.A statement issued by the state’s Chairman, Haruna Saidu, yesterday in Birnin- Kebbi revealed that the leadership accused the suspended members of exposing the party’s secrets and its leadership to public ridicule and disrepute.

He explained that the 14 PDP stalwarts showed total disregard for its constitution and hierarchy. Saidu also accused them of spreading lies and engaging in sustained campaign of calumny against leaders of the party to promote disaffection among members in the state.

He listed the affected chairmen as Nuhu Goma (Zuru Council); Aminu Sawwa (Argungu); Abubakar Kudu (Maiyam); Bello Bunza (Bunza) and Bello Gulmare (Gwandu).

Others are Zonal ex-officio, Ibrahim Manzo; Zonal Vice Chairman, Kebbi Central, Abubakar Basse; Muhammadu Ruwa; Zonal Vice Chairman, Kebbi North, Isiyaku Dauda and Udulu Manpower, Acting state Legal Adviser.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Working Committee (SWC) has distanced itself from alleged suspension of its members in Oye Council of the state.

Chairman of the council, Sunday Ojo had in a letter dated August 5, 2019 suspended former member of the House of Assembly, Dr. Samuel Omotoso for anti-party activities. But after its extended meeting yesterday, the party said the action was illegal and an act of insubordination against the party’s organs.
