The Oyo State Police Command yesterday decorated 11 newly-promoted officers to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) respectively.

The state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Shina Olukolu, who decorated the newly-promoted officers at the Command Headquarters, Eleiyele, Ibadan, said the promotion was a reward in any service, saying that other officers should emulate those that had just been promoted.

According to the CP, five officers were promoted from the post of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and six Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) were promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the state.

Olukolu urged the newly-promoted officers to always ensure that they serve as a motivator for themselves and their subordinates, adding that they should remain committed to the objective of the Inspector-General of Police in ensuring protection of lives and property of individuals.

“We thank the IGP for giving us the platform in 2019 in terms of equipment, personnel and welfare under the able supervision of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Leye Oyebade. We shall continue to thrive to do more in 2020.“We thank the IGP for being gracious for the recommendation of our officers to the Police Service Commission (PSC) as this will serve as a leap to the work of our officers.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the newly-promoted officers, DCP Akorh Gabriel, who was just promoted from the post of ACP to DCP, thank the IG for submitting their promotion recommendation to the PSC, and the PSC for considering the recommendation of the IGP.“PSC could have turned down the recommendation because not all the names that were submitted by the IGP to the PSC was promoted,” he said. He, therefore, thanked Olukolu for bearing their shortcomings during their time of waiting for the promotion, promising that they will live up to the expectations of the people.
